It’s my habit to review through the month and see God in it whenever I pen the webpage. It has been a month of testing for our members and in the midst of it, the message was clear that God is drawing us to Himself.
This nearness comes from God through waiting upon the Lord. I had a brief walk with my wife after dinner and decided to sit by the pool side to relax. We thought we will spend some brief moment praying together, however it turned into hours. Much of it was spent in quietness before the Lord.
The waiting reminded me of Isaiah 40:28-31 that we mount up with wings like eagles and not simply silent waiting. We expressed our dependence by letting our burden rest as we wait.
I read an illustration: A candy store that sells all the candy a person could get from a jar in one handful for a penny. One day a little boy walked up to the candy jar and just stood there. And the candy store man said, “Well, which one do you want?” And the little boy stood there and waited and as he waited the candy store man said, “Well, Son, make up your mind.” Finally the little boy said, “I can’t make up my mind.” Impatiently, the candy store man made the choice for him. Reaching into one of the jars with his big hand and getting the candy. The little boy had to use two hands to hold all the candy he got for his penny. He was no dummy – he waited, expecting the man to act.
That’s the way it is with God and us! We wait and He acts. So my beloved, “Wait expectantly for Him.” |

I received a phone call on National Day, and again the caller was an elderly lady in her seventies. I knew her and her sister many years ago, since the day I became their pastor. Both of them are blind.
She would occasionally call me to ask how I am doing. Though she is not well educated, she has a simple and child like faith on God in addition, she is cheerful and kind. She is very much depended on her husband as she is blind.
She also called to inform me that her sister has passed away a few months ago yet she is comforted reason being her sister does not need to suffer any more and she is home with God now. I was moved to tears. A blind woman who had lost her sister and yet she called to ask about my well being.
I thank God for her. I would call her my “Blind Guardian Angel”.
May the LORD be with you and your love ones. |

There was a box of half a dozen bottles of Chicken Essence on my table when I arrived at the church office this morning. I immediately asked one of our administrative staff who had placed it on my table. She replied that it was received from one of our elderly church members. I instantly gave her a call and expressed my thanks to her.
This elderly church member is more than 80 years old. She is still very fit and always arrive church earlier than anyone of us. She serves faithfully in the church kitchen and she is one of those who served quietly without people noticing her.
Recently her daughter had passed away and I was very concern for her well being and she held on to her faith in God without wavering though she is still grieving over her loss.
These are the people who will uplift you and motivate you while we journeyed through this spiritual pilgrimage. These people are not famous, not in the limelight; they even have encountered tragedy in their lives but they stay focus. With tears in their eyes and pain in their heart, they stay faithful to the Lord. As a pastor, I am truly blessed by this lady and many others like her.
May we be encouraged and continue to uphold one another. May we be a blessing to one another as we press on.
God bless you.

Half the year has just gone by and I have noticed that the word “Glory” stands out most significantly. God is allowing significant events to direct us in order to keep us focus in all we do to behold His glory.
Beginning of the year, we were challenged to build our altar and drawing near to God simply by establishing His glory in our lives. The “Living Hope” devotional guide reminds us to see and resolve our hidden agenda, so that we have the right image as Christ restored us. This enables us to reflect His glory.
Following that, we celebrated His Resurrection and held the Mission Conference as we aim to declare His glory (Psalm 96). Around this time, though a number of our members were not well, yet the glory of God is manifested through our love, prayers and support of God’s family.
Recently, the camp speaker, Rev. Chris Long reminded us to live a blessed life and to shine His glory like light in the city. Even in the midnight hours, whether be it through sickness or crisis, we can still bring Him glory.
In the coming month of July, let us see how corporately we can behold His glory through setting ourselves aside in prayer during these 40 days of sanctification.

I was invited to share a few words in a house dedication service.
I entitled my sharing: Make This House A Home!
The scripture lesson was taken from 1 Corinthians 13 : 1-8a .
The following is part of my sharing:
A house is definitely not a home.
A home is where you experience a sense of warmth and love.
A home is where you find affirmation and acceptance.
A home is where you feel safe and secure.
A home is where you can shut out all the competition, pressures and expectation of the outside world , and just relax and rest.
A home is where you can nurse your injuries, recover from your wound and rest your tired body and mind.
A home is where you are nurtured to be a better person while we live in a broken world.
Fill this house with love and the house will become a home.
And where there is love, there is GOD and GOD is Love!
